Lyman Hall / Sheehan Turf Use

Attention All:

The League is asking for everyone's help in making sure that no one climbs or plays on the high jump mat and pole volt mat at Sheehan.

These mats are typically not out at Lyman Hall, however if they are, please make sure that everyone stays off of them as well.
If this continues to be an issue, it may effect the League's ability to use these facilities in the future.

Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

Concussion Awareness

Welcome back to school Wallingford Youth Lacrosse. As you and your lacrosse players are about to settle in to the routine of school and the fall, the WYL league is hard at work getting the 2017 season planned and ready for you all to enjoy next spring. (We even have some cool stuff happening this fall too!)

Part of the process of getting everyone ready for next year’s season is making sure that you are all aware of the causes, signs, dangers of concussions, and what to do when you see the symptoms. Concussions are a part of every sport, especially lacrosse, and the WYL league takes them serious as should you.

Please take a moment to follow the attached links that provide crucial information that you need to know about concussions and your children.

Please note that this year and going forward, part of our registration process will include a section where you will be required to confirm that the league has provided you with this educational information.

Concussions are a SERIOUS part, of a great sport. Educate yourself and your player.

Via the NY Times:

"The young brain is especially susceptible to concussion, and sports-related concussions account for more than half of all emergency room visits by children aged 8 through 13, according to the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. A child who suffers a concussion is one and a half times more likely to experience another, and those who have had two concussions have a threefold greater risk of the same injury happening again."
